INDICATOR
Life expectancy at birth (years)
Life expectancy is the average number of years that a person can expect to live at birth if the mortality by age during their lifetime remains the same as the values of the life tables for the observed year.
From 2007 on, a changed methodology has been used for calculating this indicator. We use the method of partial probabilities of dying that is based on the data from one calendar year only.
Standardized mortality rate due to suicide (rate per 100,000 population)
The mortality rate due to suicide describes the suicide mortality per 100,000 population in the observed calendar year. The disease categories according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) included in the calculation are X60-X84 and Y87.0. An age-standardized rate is calculated, which allows a comparison of populations with different age structures of the population.
