Pigs are domestic animals of the Sus species.
Categories of pigs in the 1991-2002 period were rearranged into the present categories with the help of shares. The basis for determining the shares was the data on the number of pigs as of 1 December 2001 when we already took into account the new categorisation. In co-operation with experts we assumed that the data on the number of piglets aged up to 2 months are the same as the data on the number of piglets weighing less than 20 kg. Linked content:

Data are territorially classsified according to The Classification of Territorial Units for Statistics – NUTS, (description and explanations), level NUTS 2.

CATEGORY OF PIGS

Data on piglets born in agricultural enterprises were collected with the survey, while data on piglets born on family farms were estimated with the help of results obtained with surveys in agricultural enterprises, data from the Zootechnical Department at the Biotechnical Faculty and estimates of the Agriculture Institute of Slovenia.
