AGE GROUPS
Age is the period of time a person has lived from her birth to the moment of observation - birth of a child. Data on age are calculated from the date of birth of mother and the date of birth of a child.
FAMILY NUCLEOUS IN WHICH A CHILD WAS BORN
A legitimate child is a child born:
- in a marriage settled in accordance with the valid regulations,
- not more than 300 days after the marriage had terminated (death of spouse, proclamation of the death of spouse, divorce),
- in an annulled marriage,
- in a marriage which was proclaimed non-existent,
- to parents who intended to get married but after the conception a legal hindrance occurred or the marriage was made impossible by the death of one parent.

An illegitimate child is a child who was given birth by an unmarried mother, a mother who lives in a cohabitant couple or a mother who was married but more than 300 days passed since the death of her husband or divorce.
ORDER OF BIRTH
Order of birth is the ordinal number of a child with regard to the number of all children given birth by the same mother.
