SECTOR OF PERFORMANCE

With data for 2017 private researchers are classified into business enterprise sector, while non-profit institutions services households into private non-profit sector.
Some totals do not add up due to rounding. Due to methodological changes (including statistical data protection) made in the R&D survey for 2017, which had a substantial impact on the values of some data, some data from 2017 onwards are not fully comparable with the data for the previous years. In the reference years 2008, 2009 and 2010 some enterprises that carry out R&D activity and had previously not been part of the reporting of R&D data were included in the business enterprise sector. The survey on R&D activities in the reference year 2011 was based on new administrative sources, which enabled us to further identify R&D companies/organizations to improve the capture of units in the sample. Thus, the higher value of data on total spending on R&D was in addition to investment in this activity also the result of the expanded selection of reporting units, primarily in the business enterprise sector, and moving of some borderline respondents from the government sector to the business enterprise sector. At the same time, with the reference year 2011 we improved the analysis of non-response, which also helped increase the value of all published statistics in all sectors. This resulted in the break in time series. Linked content:
