Notes

For data after 1 January 2008 on, SURS is using a new statistical definition of population. This represents a break in the data series, meaning that the data as per the new definition, i.e. since 2009, are not directly comparable to the data as of previous years.

STATISTICAL REGION

Data are territorially classified according to the Decree on the Standard Classification of Territorial Units, which corresponds to the NUTS classification (Common Classification of Territorial Units for Statistics), level 3. Data on changes of individual regions are written at each changed region and are available by clicking the notes icon (asterisk). In notes at the beginning there is the date when the described territorial change was taken into account in the territorial classification of units for statistical purposes.

Data on population as of 1 January 2011 in Slovenia are produced also according to the Regulation (EC) No. 763/2008 of the European Parliament and the Council of 9 July 2008 on Population and Housing Censuses, Official Journal of the European Union L 218/14, 13 August, 2008.

2021

Data on population as of 1 January 2021 in Slovenia are produced also according to the Commission Regulation (EU) No. 2017/712 of 20 April 2017 establishing the reference year and the programme of the statistical data and metadata for population and housing censuses provided for by Regulation (EC) No 763/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

AGE

Age is the period of time a person has lived from his/her birth to the moment of observation. It is expressed in completed years of age.

STATISTICAL REGION

Savinjska

15 January 2005:Changes in the borders of settlements Marija Reka and Knezdol and of municipalities Prebold and Trbovlje caused the change in the borders between Savinjska and Zasavska regions. Savinjska statistical region is now 0.2 square kilometres smaller and Zasavska is larger by that much.

Jugovzhodna Slovenija

As of 30 March 2000 (Decree on the Standard Classification of Territorial Units; Official Journal No 28/2000) area of two regions changed. From Osrednjeslovenska statistical region the southern part was eliminated (municipalities Kočevje, Kostel, Loški Potok, Osilnica, Ribnica, Sodražica) and connected to Dolenjska statistical region; which was thus enlarged (for 985 km2 ) and renamed Jugovzhodna Slovenija.
